Amber’s Playground strongly believes that only the most effective and humane training methods should ever be used, which is why we rely on Positive Training. Whether we are working one-on-one with your canine, or you decide to join the process, private training sessions are completely customizable to your and your canine’s goals.

What is Positive Reinforcement Training?

Positive Dog Training incorporates several philosophies and techniques. We use concepts that focus on positive reinforcement, avoiding punitive/aversive methods, and understanding canines biologically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively. The overarching goal is to develop a strong relationship through mutual trust, respect, and positive cooperation.

Develop a Stronger Bond

We believe in this particular type of training because we’ve seen it work first hand, creating happier canines with more fulfilling lives. The results are healthier and stronger human-pet relationships. To learn more about why trainers are adopting the positive training methods, please refer to the IAABC.

How Dogs Learn

Understanding Canines

Determine The Cause

Dogs quickly learn that good things happen when they do things their human likes. In order to use positive reinforcement, you must determine the cause of the behavior and then decide how to adjust or resolve it.

Connect & Problem Solve

Learning how to connect with your canine and work through problems, instead of suppressing them, will contribute to enhancing the mutual trust and respect needed for a strong bond.

Set Your Canine Up For Success

Guide your canine into making the right choices, rather than punishing them for making the wrong choices, train behaviors that conflict with bad behaviors, and foster an environment that encourages them to learn and feel confident.

Positive Cooperation

Work Together, Not Against Each Other

Before changing a canine’s behavior with positive training, there must be a clear understanding of how canines learn, communicate, and how to communicate with them. The process relies on consistency, repetition, and patience.

The following equipment is not used within the positive training methods: choke chains, prong collars, shock/remote/e-collars, vibration collars, citronella collars, spray bottles, or noise tools (e.g., shaking pennies in a can, ultrasonic devices). We’d still love to work with your and your canine if you use any of the listed equipment; however, we will be moving away from those tools as you learn about the alternative training methods. We will not be able to instruct on how to use these tools during our training sessions.
